Getting to Jalalabad — Nangarhar: Flights, Airports & Transfers

Jalalabad Airport: Use a pre-arranged vehicle from a trusted hotel, host, fixer or security-vetted driver. The airport is roughly 7 km from the center and the road journey is often quoted at about 20–30 minutes, conditions permitting. There is no reliably documented public-airport transfer or fixed fare to recommend, and scheduled passenger service should be verified before building an itinerary around JAA.

Hamid Karzai International Airport, Kabul: Kabul is the more practical air gateway if flights to JAA are unavailable, but the onward road is not a casual transfer. Use a security-vetted private driver in daylight and allow at least several hours rather than trusting the theoretical 1 hr 45 min journey. The Kabul–Jalalabad highway is heavily used by trucks and has a serious accident record; there is no defensible fixed tourist-transfer price, and independent shared transport is not the sensible option for most foreign visitors.

Torkham border crossing (Pakistan–Afghanistan): This is the overland gateway from the Peshawar side, with onward road transport to Jalalabad, but it is only viable if both visas, border rules and the current security situation permit it. Do not count on the advertised daily Peshawar bus as a frictionless tourist service: border processing and policy changes can dominate the day. Arrange onward pickup before crossing; fares and border access are too variable to quote responsibly.
