Wilmington Airport / New Castle Airport: This is the close-in, limited-service airport, about 6 miles south of downtown—not Wilmington, North Carolina’s ILM. If your flight timing matches it, take DART First State Route 40 to Wilmington Station, then walk or connect onward; allow roughly 30–45 minutes total and pay the standard $2 bus fare. A rideshare/taxi is the sensible choice late at night or with luggage; it is a short drive, typically around 15–20 minutes.
Philadelphia International Airport: For a solo traveler headed downtown, skip an expensive direct airport car: take SEPTA’s Airport Line into Center City, then SEPTA’s Wilmington/Newark Line to Wilmington Station. Allow about 1½ hours including the change; the evidence package quotes about $9.25 total. A car via I-95 is faster—around 30 minutes without bad traffic—but is worthwhile mainly for groups, late arrivals, or destinations outside central Wilmington.
Wilmington Station (Joseph R. Biden Jr. Railroad Station): The city’s useful rail gateway is central Wilmington Station, served by Amtrak on the Northeast Corridor and SEPTA’s Wilmington/Newark Line from Philadelphia. From Center City Philadelphia, SEPTA is the value move: about 45–55 minutes, with fares quoted at $6.50 using a SEPTA Key Travel Wallet or $8 onboard on weekdays. Most local DART buses stop outside the station; downtown is walkable from here.
