Carmel Gate
Drivers arriving from Carmel-by-the-Sea
Highway 1 / Rio Road–Carpenter Street area, south of Ocean Avenue, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA · Most logical 17-Mile Drive gate from Carmel; this is a road-system gate, not a separate golf-course door.
Highway 1 Gate
Drivers arriving from Monterey, Salinas, or Highway 1
Pacific Grove / Pebble Beach–17-Mile Drive exit, Highway 1, Pebble Beach, CA · Follow Pebble Beach/17-Mile Drive gate signage; then drive to The Lodge/Visitor Center.

Taxi
The Lodge / Pebble Beach Visitor Center
5 min walk
Rideshare or taxi is the practical option from Carmel-by-the-Sea or Monterey.
Bus
MST Line 5 · 6th Avenue / Mission Street, Carmel-by-the-Sea
From Monterey Transit Plaza, the published route estimate is about 16 minutes; continue by taxi/rideshare for roughly 6 minutes to the course.
Step 1
Enter the 17-Mile Drive road system
For ordinary sightseeing, use a public gate such as Carmel Gate or Highway 1 Gate; gate entry is generally described as dawn to dusk.
Step 2
Pay the vehicle gate fee if required
Monterey County tourism sources list US$12 per vehicle, but the course operator does not publish a current gate-price page; confirm the amount at the gate. Keep the receipt if seeking reimbursement through a qualifying restaurant purchase.
Step 3
Drive to The Lodge / Visitor Center public lot
Do not look for a separate general-sightseeing entrance to active golf holes.
Step 4
Check in at the pro shop if playing or accompanying a golfer
Players should allow 30–45 minutes before tee time. Non-playing companions must check in; access depends on safety and availability and requires a golf cart.
Fine
Not allowed
No general public bag-size policy or cloakroom/luggage-storage service is published for an ordinary visit. Championship-event bag rules are separate and event-specific.

For a non-golfing visit, the Visitor Center has ADA spaces in the general public lot, an accessible route from car and bus/van parking, accessible doorways and ramp, ADA restrooms, an accessible water fountain, and accessible picnic tables. The course is uneven and exposed; use cart paths for mobility and arrange course-access assistance through the pro shop rather than planning to walk the holes.
