First visit? Stay in Gold Canyon Village & US 60 Spine.
It is the most balanced Gold Canyon base: close enough to the Superstition foothills and resort area, with the area's most practical conventional lodging and basic services. Travelers should rent a car and treat it as a launch point, not a walkable resort town.

Avoid sleeping near Canyon Lake & Tortilla Flat, Lost Dutchman State Park & Apache Trail Gateway, Far-eastern Gold Canyon residential subdivisions. It is a fine day trip but a poor default sleeping base: lodging, supplies and evening options are too limited, and access depends on a remote scenic drive.
