Getting in

• Bora Bora Airport: BOB is on Motu Mute, not on Bora Bora’s main island. Take the Air Tahiti airport boat/shuttle to Vaitape quay rather than paying for a private airport transfer: it is generally tied to flight arrivals and is the sensible, usually complimentary option. Allow roughly 20 minutes on the water, then arrange your hotel pickup or a land taxi in advance; there is no useful public-transport network to fall back on. Resorts on motu have their own boat transfers, which are often charged separately.
• Vaitape harbour: This is the practical arrival point for inter-island boats. The evidence lists the Maupiti Express 2 between Maupiti and Vaitape (about 1 hr 45 min), but its quoted timetable and 2009 fare are plainly not current enough to plan around. Treat it as a service to confirm directly, not a dependable walk-up day-trip transport system.
